Our thoughts are with his loved ones
A man has been named as the third victim of the Nottingham attacks. Ian Coates has been named as the third person killed in the series of attacks in Nottingham yesterday by Sky News, although this has not been confirmed by police.
He was in his 60s and worked as a school caretaker in the city, according to the broadcaster. He is thought to be the man stabbed to death on Magdala Road before his van was thought to be stolen and used an hour later on Milton Street to allegedly try and run over three people. The other two people killed during the attacks were both University of Nottingham students.
Students Grace Kumar and Barnaby Webber, both 19, were both found dead on Ilkeston Road. Tributes are now being paid to the victims, with Barnaby's heartbroken family issuing a statement. Armed officers and forensic detectives were among those seen walking the streets, searching through bins and raiding an Ilkeston Road property as the local force announced it was working alongside counter-terrorism police.
A press conference was held by Chief Constable Kate Meynell regarding yesterday’s incident in the city centre. She confirmed that a 31-year-old man had been arrested and remains in police custody.
