The club have reported the matter to the police
A man pretending to be Northampton Saints scout is "trying to take people's money", according to a club official. Head of the club's academy and former player Mark Hopley tweeted a warning to people to be aware of the fraudster.
Many people have been replying to the tweet and sharing it among the local rugby community in Northamptonshire. One person said: "So disappointed - I thought I'd got a new career......on the other hand, Scumbag!" The FA said that the football clubs and agents whose names have been used have nothing to do with the scam. The scam would promise trials to young players with various clubs and asks for an advance payment to cover “insurance and travel”.
“All FA Licensed agents should ensure that they have their correct and full contact details listed on FIFA.com to prevent their names being used in the scam”
