Thousands of people flocked to Southport beach to watch day two of the Southport Air Show
A young pilot has shared exactly what it takes to fly a jet for The Red Arrows as thousands flocked to the beach to enjoy day two of the Southport Air Show .
Candidates are put through a gruelling flying test, formal interview, media test and peer assessments and even then, only three new pilots are chosen each year to replace the three that have finished their tour. "Once you’ve done that you can apply to be a Red Arrow but, really you have to be asked and invited. You can apply but there’s no guarantee."
It is a feeling many attendees wanted to experience with fans of the Red Arrows dotted about, but none more committed than a boy named Charlie who was wearing the full Red Arrows uniform and was certainly one of the stars of the event on Southport beach.
