A 32-year-old woman, Paula Lawlor, was found dead in her home in Baile Eoghain, Gorey, County Wexford. A man known to her was initially arrested but has since been released. Gardaí continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and appeal for witnesses.

A man arrested in relation to the death of a woman in Wexford has been released. Paula Lawlor, 32, was found dead in a bedroom of her home in Baile Eoghain in Gorey at around 3am on Thursday morning. It is understood Gardaí were alerted to the scene when someone at the home rang 999. A man known to Paula, who is believed to have only been seen in her company over the last week, was arrested at the scene. A postmortem was completed by State Pathologist Dr. SallyAnne Collis on Thursday evening.

The results of the postmortem are not being released for operational reasons. On Friday, Gardaí confirmed the male, aged in his 30s, who was arrested and detained in relation to this incident was released from the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. A Garda spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing as they appealed for anyone with information to contact authorities. They said: “Gardaí continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman (30s), who was found unresponsive at a residence in Baile Eoghain, Gorey, County Wexford on Thursday morning. “Gardaí continue to appeal to witnesses to come forward. Additionally, they are seeking dash cam footage from motorists who were in the vicinity of Baile Eoghain at the time of the incident. “Anyone with information is asked to contact Gorey Garda Station on 094 30690 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
