Police are now trying to trace two men as part of the ongoing investigation.
A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in Livingston on Sunday evening.
The first man is described as being in his early to mid-twenties, 5ft 11 and of slim build, He was wearing dark clothing. Detective Constable Alan Gibson said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about those involved to get in touch.
