Prosecutors said the 20-year-old man worked at Jenkinson's when he made two threats last year.
Nkosi Jones, of Brick, pleaded guilty late last year to terroristic threats foron June 3 and June 4 last year, according to Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
Jones, who worked at Jenkinson’s, made both calls to his employer using an Internet calling service, Billhimer said. The services can allow users to make anonymous phone calls. “The caller indicated he would be planting a bomb on the boardwalk,” Billhimer said in a statement. “The call was reported to the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department, and the boardwalk was evacuated by law enforcement.”
Officials reopened the boardwalk about three hours later. The next day, authorities said, Jenkinson’s employees received another false threat.Police arrested Jones June 17 when he showed up for work, according to Billhimer. Authorities have not commented on a possible motive for the false threats. Defense attorney information for Jones was not released. Representatives for Jenkinson’s could not be immediately reached for comment.
