There was a terrifying incident in Kerry overnight when a man armed with knives stormed into a house and threatened the occupants.

The incident happed in Tralee, Co Kerry, at approximately 1.45am this morning when a entered a property on Chapel Street. He was allegedly armed with knives and threatened the occupants of the residence. Damage was caused to property before the man fled the scene.Following report of the incident, gardaí located the man a short distance away.

"He was arrested and taken to Tralee Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984," gardaí confirmed to the Irish Mirror. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Gardaí recovered a number of items that were taken during the course of the burglary.
