Tensions boiled over during Manchester United's FA Cup victory over Arsenal, resulting in a massive brawl involving 20 players. Both clubs are facing an FA investigation for failing to control their players.

Manchester United are facing an FA investigation following an incident during their FA Cup victory over Arsenal on Sunday. Both clubs have been warned that they will be investigated after a brawl involving 20 players broke out during the match at the Emirates Stadium. Tensions escalated during the heated third-round encounter, which United won on penalties despite playing with 10 men for over 70 minutes.

Referee Andy Madley issued several yellow cards throughout the game, booking nine individuals, including Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, according to The Express. Diogo Dalot received two cautions, leading to his dismissal on the hour mark, which further intensified the already brewing conflict. The incident occurred when Madley deemed Harry Maguire to have fouled Kai Havertz inside the penalty area, enraging United's players. This decision allowed Arsenal to turn a 1-0 deficit into a lead after Gabriel Magalhaes equalized Bruno Fernandes' opener. Cameras shifted from a replay of the controversial incident to a massive fight, showing Alejandro Garnacho grappling with Havertz. Manuel Ugarte then became involved and appeared to headbutt the German forward, sending him crashing to the ground. While the players involved escaped punishment as Madley missed the incident and VAR was not in operation for the FA Cup third round, former PGMOL chief and FIFA official Keith Hackett believes both clubs will face consequences for failing to control their players. Hackett recalled a similar incident during his career that resulted in sanctions including points deductions following an FA review. 'The mass confrontation which may have also seen a player headbutting an opponent will be the subject of an investigation by the Football Association,' he told Football Insider. 'Years ago, I was in the middle of a mass confrontation involving what was a 21-man brawl. 'I decided not to red card anyone on the basis I might have had more than a handful walking in the direction of the tunnel. 'So I submitted a detailed report to the Football Association, who investigated and both teams were deducted points. I have no doubt that both teams will be charged for failing to control their players. 'The question that we can ask – if VAR was in operation, that would have been reviewed and the result may well have secured a different outcome.'
