Harry Maguire has enjoyed a good weekend, with Manchester United's win in the FA Cup final followed by a defeat for Leeds United in the Championship play-off final
Harry Maguire has attempted to wind up Leeds United supporters after they were beaten by Southampton at Wembley.
The result meant joy for Russell Martin and his players, who joined Leicester and Ipswich in moving up a division. But it was agony for Leeds, who failed to produce their best and were punished by Armstrong’s finish. Leeds started brightly but faded and were largely kept at bay by Southampton until the nervy closing stages. The introduction of James off the bench made a difference, but Alex McCarthy made a few key saves and was fortunate to see the Welshman’s shot bounce back off his crossbar late on.
"It's always important to be good in both boxes. We started the game totally on the front foot and had many good situations but in the final third, we were not that committed to the attack. On this level, when you play in a final, you have to be spot on. It's a bit written in the stars, sometimes it's not meant to be. It's a difficult day for us. A day of suffering but that's football. You have to get on with it.
