The only thing that can really solve United's problems is a takeover and the departure of the Glazers
The leaking roof is far from the biggest problem facing Manchester United, a club whose recent history is so turbulent the word crisis almost immediately follows. But what the water seeping through the stand epitomises is the attitude taken by those at the top, evidenced further by the sheer volume of Galatasaray fans in the home end. It's the drip, drip, drip of failure, of indifference, of the draining of the club by the Glazers.
Joel and Avram Glazer, the only two siblings still with any real interest in owning this club, are barely at games. They pledged improved communication on the back of the European Super League debacle but, in a surprise to no one, nothing followed. "It would be best if they sold the club with some speed and efficiency and allowed at least the off-the-pitch items to be corrected properly that reset the tone and culture," said former Red Gary Neville last month on X of the ownership situation. "Football is volatile so results on the pitch can be erratic and cyclical but if the off-the-pitch stuff including the owners' direction and leadership are spot on it gives you a better chance to succeed on it.
