James Rahm's son also faces charges for his actions on Jan. 6, 2021.

In a pre-sentencing report, Rahm’s attorneys argued for no prison time and described him as a remorseful man who, despite being divorced, continues to financially support his family and who’s already suffered from being publicly shamed for his conduct on Jan. 6.

His inflammatory comments on Facebook during and after the Jan. 6, 2021 rioting and violence were only to boast to followers, his lawyers argued. He was inside the Capitol for 11 minutes and he admitted his conduct to the FBI when apprehended, his lawyers argued. Federal prosecutors countered in their sentencing report that Rahm is a liar and felon whose words should not be undone by professions of remorse.

“Participating in the worst attack on the Capitol since the War of 1812 certainly made history, but not in the way Rahm believes,” prosecutors write. “Incredibly, and without a hint of irony, in one of his online posts, Rahm called those who did not violently attack the nation’s seat of democracy, ‘Disgusting antiAmericans.
