Avanti Manchester to London Euston services are among those being cancelled, diverted or delayed
The disruption began yesterday due to damage to the overhead lines between Stockport and Levenshulme. Network Rail engineers worked on the scene throughout much of the day, with lines also fully closed off overnight so repairs could be carried out on the cables.
The TransPennine Express route between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield is also affected by the problem. National Rail said this morning: "Damage to the overhead wires at Stockport means that all lines are currently disrupted. "Please check your journey. Ticket acceptance has been agreed with @CrossCountryUK who are conveying passengers between Stafford and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions until further notice."
