Manchester United are the most valuable football team in the world, according to insights from a new report
While Manchester United may continue to struggle on the pitch it appears to have done little to slow its growth prospects off it.
But it has been proven that it hasn’t been a major hurdle to clear for United in terms of growing both the value of the club and its revenues across the board, with the club a compelling enough investment opportunity for INEOS founder and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe to take a 27.7% stake in the club for £1.25bn earlier this year.
United held top spot in Sportico’s 2023 valuations with a figure of $5.95bn , meaning that the club’s value has increased by £230m over the past 12 months. For context, despite Chelsea’s efforts to raise the value of the club under the ownership of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, who acquired it for £2.5bn in May 2023, the West London side has remained static in its Sportico valuation, staying at $3.47bn , a sum £280m more than the purchase price.
