Manchester United unveiled plans to show what a new 100,000-seater stadium could look like earlier this week and they have big plans to host boxing events in the future
Manchester United want to pinch boxing's biggest fights from Wembley if they press ahead with plans to build a new £2billion stadium.
Ratcliffe has previously described a new super-stadium as capable of being a 'Wembley of the North' for Manchester United - and there are plans to muscle in on the national stadium when it comes to hosting major boxing events in the future. Old Trafford has not hosted a major boxing bout since Nigel Benn clashed with Chris Eubank back in 1993, though the nearby MEN Arena - which has a capacity of around 21,000 - has staged numerous events down the years.
