After the star indicated it was dead, Margot Robbie's PiratesOfTheCaribbean project has gotten a very positive update from Jerry Bruckheimer. 'I think that that script will come forward at a certain point.'

After the actor said it was canceled, Margot Robbie's Pirates of the Caribbean movie receives a positive update from producer Jerry Bruckheimer. It was first reported in 2020 that Disney was developing two Pirates of the Caribbean reboots – one written by franchise veteran Ted Elliott and Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin, and another female-led spinoff with Robbie attached to star and Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson penning the script.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Now, less than a month after Robbie said her Pirates of the Caribbean movie was canceled, it appears to not be entirely dead after all. During a recent interview with Collider, Jerry Bruckheimer said Robbie's spinoff has not been canceled, but is on the back burner as they prioritize the other Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. Read what Bruckheimer said below:

I think that that script will come forward at a certain point. We developed two different stories for Pirates and the other one’s going forward first, so that’s what we’re working on, to try to get that one made. What Margot Robbie’s Pirates of the Caribbean Could Be About Bruckheimer's update on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is incredibly exciting for those anticipating Robbie's spinoff and were disappointed when the star said it had been canceled.

There are no official plot details for Robbie’s Pirates of the Caribbean, though the star has promised “lots of girl power” and expressed confidence in Hodson's ability to bring a "key female element to that world.” The most important female element in that equation is obviously Robbie, who based on her recent comments, is under the impression that Disney is no longer interested in the female-led reboot.

An in-demand actor like Robbie certainly isn't going to sit around waiting forever. As her Pirates of the Caribbean movie has been relegated to the back burner, the Academy Award nominee has remained busy with David O. Russell's Amsterdam and Damien Chazelle's Babylon in 2022, and Greta Gerwig's buzzy Barbie movie and Wes Anderson's Asteroid City slated for next year.
