‘Sometimes giving a gift can be selfish’ – Martin Lewis shares his top budget-setting Christmas advice
There are less than 100 days to go till Christmas , and you might already be starting to worry about the cost. With Christmas gifts to buy for friends and family, decorations, festive food and trips to see Santa, the costs soon mount up.Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Martin highlighted some of the common mistakes people make with their Christmas finances. And he explained why buying presents for all your friends and family might actually be a bad idea.
Set your budget – and stick to it Martin said, when it comes to the festive season, many of us come up with a ‘lust list’ in our head of how we’d like Christmas to look. But he says that will only lead to debt or disappointment. Instead, the money saving guru advises setting a realistic budget – and sticking to it!
