State pensioners and those planning for their retirement have been urged to carry out a check that could potentially add more than £50,000 to their retirement income. The team at Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert has reminded individuals in their most recent newsletter to review whether they could increase their National Insurance contributions to enhance their pension.
This resource will show for each year since you turned 16 if you have either a 'full year' for complete contributions or 'year is not full' where gaps exist. The next step is to utilise the state pension forecast calculator tool , as this will display how much state pension you are on track to receive given your current NI contributions. This will also show how much state pension you would get if you work up to your state pension age.
