As the cost of living crisis continues to bite, some families could be eligible for help with the cost of school uniforms
As schools prepare to reopen their doors, UK parents are being reminded to check their eligibility for grants that could potentially fund up to £200 towards school uniforms. MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis has shone a light on the availability of these school uniform grants, provided by local councils nationwide.
In a positive twist, the number of councils in England issuing school uniform grants has risen from 31 last year to 34 this year. Support levels, however, fluctuate greatly depending on location. Across the rest of the UK, uniform grants are more uniform. In Scotland, all councils provide at least £120 for primary pupils and £160 for secondary students, while in Wales, the amounts are set at £125 and £210 respectively.
