The Money Saving Expert has spoken out after the Government announced a reform of the benefits system
Money saving expert Martin Lewis, known for his financial advice encompassing everything from pensions to cost-effective electricity and mobile phone bills, has reacted to the Government's proposed changes to DWP PIP benefits and the resultant effect on 'vital support' for disabled people. This comes following Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's announcement that the existing disability system is falling short of expectations, reports the Express.
He further elaborated: "That's why we're reforming it, targeting support to those who need it most and ending the one-size fits all approach." He pledged to continue protecting the vulnerable while striving to maintain the sustainability of the system into the future.At present, PIP beneficiaries receive a maximum weekly payment of £184 to assist them in managing living costs associated with chronic disabilities or conditions, averaging to £9,580 annually.
