Masked gang assaults two men in Co Tyrone house
Two women witnessed the attack, in the Cookstown area, when it unfolded on Friday night.
In a statement issued on Saturday morning, the PSNI said detectives “are appealing for information following a report of an aggravated burglary which occurred at the Queen's Avenue area of Cookstown on Friday 3rd February”.Detective Sergeant Robinson said: “Shortly after 10pm, it was reported that four masked men entered a property in the area with one of the men armed with an iron bar and another man armed with a suspected firearm.
“The two men, aged 29 years old and 26 years old were both taken to hospital with their injuries. The two women who were inside the property at the time of the incident, were not injured. “Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and would appeal to anyone with any information, or who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 2116 03/02/23. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here.
