Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood has been re-bailed until a hearing on 10 February next year, with a trial date set for 27 November 2023

The footballer appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court and is facing charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault. The footballer, wearing a black suit, white shirt and black tie, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.Judge Maurice Greene granted Greenwood bail with the same conditions as he was under before.

The forward, who has been capped once by England, was released on bail last month after a private hearing. Greenwood was first held in January over allegations relating to a young woman after images and videos were posted online. The controlling and coercive behaviour relates to a period between November 2018 and October this year, where he is alleged to have made threatening and derogatory comments towards the complainant, as well as accessing and monitoring her social media accounts. The forward has been suspended from playing or training with the Old Trafford club.

Nike also suspended and later terminated its sponsorship deal with him, while Electronic Arts confirmed he had been removed from active squads on its Fifa 22 game.
