A mass evacuation has taken place in the Lebanese city of Tyre, displacing over a million people, following extensive Israeli military operations against Hizbullah. The region's historical sites and civilian population face significant risks.

Since Israel intensified its assault against Hizbullah , a mass exodus has been observed in the city, displacing more than 1.2 million people. Following an Israel i airstrike, smoke was seen billowing over Tyre in the Lebanese coastal city. The roads were largely empty, with debris scattered across the streets and occasional emergency vehicles rushing by. Tyre , known as Sour in Arabic, is a former tourist destination and is located about 25km from the Israel i border.

The city has been described as 'the most important centre for maritime and land commerce in the eastern Mediterranean' by Unesco, and is home to Roman ruins, a Venetian cathedral, and an ancient Crusader castle. The situation has raised significant concerns about the city's historical sites and the massive civilian toll. Unifil, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, has been present in the area since 1984. Unesco has also expressed concerns and provided technical and financial assistance to several cultural properties in the city
