The news that a redeveloped Casement Park, a GAA ground, will host games in a major tournament has been welcomed by many, but some Northern Ireland fans have objected to the move. The Amalgamation of Official Northern Ireland Supporters' Clubs have said some fans have raised safety concerns about matches being held in west Belfast.
Others, meanwhile, have questioned how much of the tournament's legacy will help football if the sole venue is primarily used for Gaelic games or raised concerns about how much funding is going to Casement, given many local football clubs are have long-awaited money to redevelop their own grounds. On Saturday, a banner was displayed during Northern Ireland's Euro 2024 qualifier with San Marino saying 'No Casement' while a number of fans also made their feelings known via chants from the stands.will have to "accept" it if the team qualify for Euro 2028But just how deep does that feeling go among Northern Ireland football fans?
