Senator Matt Canavan says he will continue to campaign against the Coalition government's plan to have net zero emissions by 2050, despite The Nationals deal.
The Nationals MP was one of about nine party members who argued against the net zero plan at Sunday’s party meeting which saw the Nationals agree to supporting the Liberal’s climate target.

Picture: Getty Images The Nationals were hesitant to support the net zero plan with concerns over the growth of economies and jobs in rural and regional Australia. “What we have tried to do is work within the existing policy frameworks… to put in safeguards against future governments that may come in and turn the tables on regional and rural Australia because it’s politically expedient to use us as the whipping boys,” he told Sky News Australia.
