The midfielder was the standout player on the pitch with a goal but he did miss from the spot when his penalty was saved.
Matt O’Riley was ribbed by a well-heeled Celtic punter as he was presented with his man of the mach champagne following a standout display in the champions’ 2-1 win over Rangers at Parkhead that put them on the bring of three-in-a-row.
Still in his full kit shortly after full time, the Denmark international and former MK Dons man made his way to the club’s Number 7 restaurant as is customary for the man of the match. A video shared on social media shows a female fan presenting O’Riley with his bottle of bubbly and she says: “Well done, congratulations. Shame about the penalty but we got it done!”
With Celtic needing a point from Wednesday’s trip to Kilmarnock or their final game of the season at home to St Mirren, assuming Rangers beat Dundee on Tuesday, O’Riley smiled: “I’ll probably not do that but we still won so it’s okay. It’s not done yet but hopefully on Wednesday we can get that.”
