Matt Smith corrected Sue Perkins when she incorrectly misgendered his co-star Emma D'Arcy during the House of the Dragons season two premiere

Matt Smith has been praised by fans for correcting Sue Perkins on his House of the Dragon co-star’s pro-nouns during an interview.

In a clip shared on social media, Sue said: “I was talking to Emma and she was talking about how amazing that end scene was... and she gave you all the credit.” Putting an emphasis on ‘they’, Matt replied: “I can’t take the credit, but I have to say, aren’t they brilliant? They are absolutely brilliant and you’re in for a real treat with Emma this year. I think Emma’s put in a really great performance.

A third commented: “The way he looked the interviewer dead in the face and said ‘They’ multiple times is chef kiss.” A fourth chimed in: “Good man! But honestly, a big network like Sky messing up Emma’s pronouns at a big premiere is so unserious. They need to do better.” While a fifth added: “Oh Matt you precious bean, I don’t understand how this sweet man can get hate.”
