'I’d take back if I had the chance,' said Matty Healy during a 1975 gig at Finsbury Park after backlash about his comments and other incidents involving the band's frontman
The 1975's frontman Matty Healy has apologised following multiple controversial comments and incidents at the band's performance at Finsbury Park.
Referencing one of their most popular songs, he continued: “Like, Love Me, for example, it doesn’t make sense unless I’m taking the p**s out of myself.”“But, do you know what? There’s a lot of things I’ve said, jokes that I’ve made, you know what, there’s probably a couple of f***ing songs I’d take back if I had the chance.
In recent months, he has been called out for comments he made about rapper Ice Spice during an appearance on a podcast. His on-stage antics have not been received warmly, either, whether it’s kissing fans or appearing to do the Nazi salute. Before singing her song STFU, she said: “I wrote this next song because I was sick and tired of microaggressions. So, tonight, this song goes out to a white man who watches Ghetto Gaggers and mocks Asian people on a podcast. He also owns my masters. I’ve had enough.”
