RTE presenter Maura Derrane admits she's 'the biggest Irish mammy ever'
Maura Derrane says she never saw herself as "an Irish mammy" but admits she's now "the biggest Irish mammy ever" since having son Cal.
The RTE star said: “There are so many other people like us right now, I don’t think we are special in anyway. John has been away an awful lot in the past few years, being back and forth to the States. “My mother was always at home when I was growing up and things do go smoother. If you have good childcare, which I do, then it is relatively easy.”
Maura, 48, said: "Honestly, it would be great if you could walk away sometimes but when you have a kid you turn into a soft blob and you are going to be slave to that child until they are about 25.Opening up about her 13-year marriage to Waterford politician John, she revealed they have turned down opportunities to do joint interviews for magazines and TV appearances.Our Irish Mirror Sports Page - which brings you all your Irish and UK sports news - can be found here.
