It wasn't all smooth sailing for Max Verstappen on Sunday... F1 MonacoGP MV1
Verstappen comfortably controlled the entirety of the Monaco Grand Prix, coming home almost 30 seconds clear of Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin at the chequered flag.
It led to a particularly scary moment for Verstappen who, on the dry tyre, ran wide entering Portier and clouted the barrier – just about avoiding any serious damage before coming into the pits to swap over to the Intermediates.
With the top two having started on opposing tyres, Verstappen said the race had been made more difficult by the fact that Fernando Alonso was able to stay close enough while on the hard tyres. “We didn’t want to go that long, but we had to. We had to stay out, the rain was coming so we didn’t know really what was going on.
