What a stunning property
Our home has a varied history, built in the late 19th century. It was formerly the local girls’ secondary school, following that it was divided into flats until Robbie’s family purchased it in the 1970s.
Downstairs, the removal of more walls got rid of the dark hallway and gave us an open living area and a large bright kitchen. View gallery I am a fan of panelling and the use of light colours to make spaces bright, and I have used the same techniques in my own home. It was very important for us to have space but to maintain that homely feel. I love design but I didn’t want a showhouse. I want friends and family to be able to relax and feel at home when they visit, and thankfully all the feedback has been positive so far.
We installed a new heating system along with a traditional wood-burning stove which is great for heating the entire home. Where we were able to make savings was by doing most of the work ourselves.
