Arsenal and Ireland star Katie McCabe was speaking ahead of Friday’s Nations League opener against Turkey.
The Ireland captain said the decision to dispense of Healy’s services, along with head coach Eileen Gleeson , caused hurt within the squad.
He claimed that he had been given verbal assurances that he would be retained, while FAI chief executive David Courell and chief football officer Marc Canham denied this. McCabe had earlier described the decision to part ways with Gleeson and Healy as a “shock” when she was pressed again for her own opinion as team captain on Healy’s exit.
“And I think within the Association they need to review those processes and how they can do it better, because ultimately it wasn’t good enough.
