Justice Minister Helen McEntee has held talks with her Dubai counterpart – to work on a plan to get Daniel Kinahan sent back from there to face trial in Ireland.
However, Ireland, like all other 26 EU states, has no extradition agreement with Dubai – so the trio, as well as key sidekick Sean McGovern, are out of the Gardai’s reach. The call follows the visit to Dubai of Garda Commissioner Drew Harris and Assistant Commissioner Justin Kelly – who is in charge of cracking down on the cartel — last month.
“Crime is a global enterprise for many organised crime gangs and some individuals cross borders in an attempt to evade justice. Officers recently sent a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions – and the law officer is examining it.
