Lawyers for the woman who won damages against Conor McGregor for alleged rape are considering cross-examining him over his efforts to delete key CCTV footage used in the trial. The High Court previously ordered McGregor not to share the footage, but a new affidavit has raised concerns about his compliance with the court's order.

Lawyers representing the woman who was awarded damages after alleging rape by Conor McGregor are contemplating an application to cross-examine him regarding his attempts to eliminate critical CCTV footage that played a pivotal role in the trial. The High Court had previously instructed McGregor not to share the CCTV footage, which was instrumental in the civil case against him.

Nikita Hand, also known as Nikita Ni Laimhin, secured a damages award and costs following a three-week trial last year after accusing the professional fighter of rape at a Dublin hotel in December 2018. Last month, the High Court in Dublin issued an order prohibiting McGregor from distributing the footage and mandating the return or destruction of any copies he possessed. Mr. Justice Alexander Owens ordered McGregor to provide a sworn statement detailing the process by which he deleted the footage. John Gordon SC, representing Ms. Hand, informed the court on Thursday that he only received a copy of the second sworn document on Wednesday, despite it having been signed on February 7. Mr. Gordon asserted that the affidavit's contents raise 'significant issues.' He stated to Justice Owens that he would require time to respond to the affidavit as he was considering lodging an application to cross-examine McGregor. Mr. Gordon expressed his belief that McGregor has not adhered to one aspect of the judge's order and is 'still in breach' of the direction set forth by Justice Owens. He characterized the affidavit as 'entirely inadequate' and said its contents raise 'further significant issues' concerning Mr. McGregor's 'bona fides.' He indicated that they need time to evaluate the document and will be seeking leave from the court to cross-examine him on the matter. Justice Owens stated that he had not yet been provided with a copy of the affidavit. Remy Farrell SC, representing McGregor, did not object to Mr. Gordon being granted time to respond to the document. The case is scheduled to be heard in court on March 6
