Anne Donaghy has been suspended from her role since December 2021 amid a council probe into bullying and harassment allegations
The chief executive of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has left the local authority after more than a year on suspension, sources have told Belfast Live.She was also among four people referred to prosecutors last October in an ongoing police investigation into suspected misconduct in public office.
Ms Donaghy has strongly denied any wrongdoing and launched legal action against the council for alleged discrimination. It is unclear at this stage what will happen to internal council investigations or Ms Donaghy's legal action against the council.Ms Donaghy has been the council's chief executive since its creation under local government reforms in 2014-15.But the council has been embroiled in controversy since a contentious decision in 2021 to withdraw staff conducting Brexit-related checks from Larne Port over alleged security fears.
