with the goal of bringing neighbors together for community, food and fun and a chance to meet with their local law enforcement officials.Wertham said her company is sponsoring a Kona Ice snow cone truck, face painters, and a stilt walker. They’ve also donated a virtual reality game, laptop, TV and scooter for the raffle prizes that will be given away toward the event's end. They’ll be handing out goody bags as well.
“We’ve been blessed to have great law enforcement who love to be part of this event,” said Tracy Harrison, vice president of public safety for North Houston District.“National Night Out is a great way for police officers to reach youth in the area,” she said. “It’s important that youth perceive police in a positive light.”
The idea worked, and Harrison has since watched as more and more sponsors, partners and attendees joined in the fun each year.
