The award-winning artist Ronnie Hughes remembers his first painting at age 10, loves relaxing on the couch after a long day’s work and boasts a ‘rare and rather precious’ collection of children

Belfast-born, Sligo-based, award-winning artist Ronnie Hughes has been showing in Ireland and internationally for the past 35 years. Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Isobar’ at the MAC, Belfast and ‘Strange Attractors’, which toured the Model Sligo, Limerick City Gallery and the Royal Hibernian Academy Dublin.

Awards include residencies in New York ; Banff Arts Center, Canada ; Bemis Arts Center, Nebraska ; the ‘Albers Foundation’ in Connecticut; and at the Vermont Studio Center.
