The Franklin Township school board has five seats, three of which are on the ballot this year.
Only two of the races face challengers and the race for the southeast portion of the district only has one candidate.One position is available.Tim McVey said he currently works for a real estate investment trust owned by Blackstone Inc. and also works as a part-time substitute bus driver for the district. McVey has lived in the district for over 40 years and has two children currently attending district schools.
He also would like to find the best possible solutions for the safety and security of children and staff in schools.Dawn Downer is the current vice president of the Franklin Township school board and also works for TCC Software Solutions as their early childhood project manager. Downer attended Franklin schools and had a daughter who attended district schools. Some priorities for Downer include increasing transparency in communication, finance, performance and goals for the district.
