Bori Akinola recently posted a new PB of 6.65 ahead of the national indoor championships that take place at Abbotstown this weekend and feature stars such as Sharlene Mawdsley and Sarah Lavin

Israel Olatunde 's bid for four national indoor titles in a row is under threat on Super Sunday from a rival who has his sights on overtaking Ireland's male sprint king.

Sunday is already a sell out, which is a reflection of Irish athletics' standing, and Olatunde - who has returned from his US training base for the nationals - versus Bori Akinola should be box office. It is a rivalry that he is constantly reminded of by his coach, Adam McMullen. Akinola explained: "Every time there’s a training session that’s tough, a line he says every time is, 'Israel wouldn’t be complaining, Israel would get the reps done'.

Akinola, 23, insists there is more to come after recently smashing his 60m indoor record twice - the 6.65 landmark following a 6.72. Olatunde's PB is 6.57.
