On Monday, Oliver Darcy of the Status newsletter reported that dozens of Washington Post employees are expected to be laid off soon. These job losses seem connected to the 300,000 subscriptions canceled after Jeff Bezos, the Post's owner since 2013, blocked the paper's planned endorsement of Kamala Harris.
Over the weekend, Pulitzer-winning cartoonist Ann Telnaes resigned after the Post refused to publish her cartoon depicting Bezos and other tech bosses offering bags of money to a statue of Meanwhile, Melania Trump, who will return to the role of First Lady after Trump's inauguration on January 20th, will be an executive producer of a documentary about her life, set to premiere on Amazon's Prime Video in the second half of 2025. The untitled project, directed by Brett Ratner, will be shown in US cinemas and streamed on Prime. Amazon was one of several companies that announced plans in December to donate money to help fund Trump's inauguration, pledging $1 million (€960,000). It also said it would stream the event on Prime Video for another $1 million. Bezos may not be the only tech chief seeking to get close to Trump, as the rejected cartoon depicted, but he seems to be deeply involved in this effort
