NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde are welcoming the introduction of the Baby Loss Memorial Book which is being produced by the Scottish Government and National Records Scotland for those who have experienced pregnancy or baby loss prior to 24 weeks.

The Baby Loss Memorial Book will offer the opportunity to provide recognition and may offer comfort to parents who wish to have a record of their loss. Although there is no legal requirement for anyone to record a loss prior to 24 weeks, it is and will remain a personal choice, people can also take time to think about it beforehand and can decide to register their loss at a later date.

Director of Midwifery at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Dr Mary Ross-Davie, backed the development and explained the significance of its purpose: "Supporting mothers and their partners in bereavement is incredibly important and is something that we’re developing further across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, this includes introducing Bereavement Midwives and services to enable parents to process their loss.
