Nottinghamshire Police said the production and supply of drugs bring with it a 'whole host of problems'
Two Nottingham men have been jailed after officers found almost £90,000 worth of drugs in an industrial size cannabis grow. Nottinghamshire Police officers executed a warrant on August 9 last year which led to the discovery of 57 cultivated cannabis plants and large bags of dry cannabis in a house on Tremayne Road, Bilborough.
Cash, multiple mobile phones, high value goods and equipment associated with the production of cannabis were also found during the raid. Two men, Kladji Egra and Aurel Shima, were found inside the property and appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Wednesday . Egra, aged 26, of Tremayne Road, was jailed for three-and-a-half years after being convicted of one count of producing cannabis and one count of possessing of the Class B drug. Shima, aged 25, also of Tremayne Road, was locked up for 12 months after being convicted of producing cannabis.Officers raided the four-bedroom, semi-detached home after gathering intelligence from the local community.
PC Jonathan Collins, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The production and supply of drugs bring with it a whole host of problems. Not only does it prey on the most vulnerable in our communities but the supply of drugs can often be linked to more serious organised crime and violence. “Cannabis grows are also extremely dangerous due to the heightened fire risk when electricity is bypassed, leaving neighbours and other residents at much greater risk.”
