Members of the European Parliament will vote on a new €50bn recovery fund for Ukraine later today.

The financial package, if also approved by member states, would be administered from the beginning of next year to 2027.The Ukraine Facility is made up of €17bn in grants and €33bn in loans.

MEPs want agreement quickly, as there are currently no provisions for EU financial assistance to Ukraine from the start of next year. Those plans must outline how Ukraine will seek to address all or a significant number of the challenges identified in the Commission's opinion on Ukraine’s application for EU membership.

"This new instrument to finance Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction sends a strong political signal that the EU will support Ukraine until its victory in this war against Russia", she said.
