Chinese social media has been enthralled in an eye-popping debate over ads depicting alleged Western beauty ideals for Asian women, including the usage of stereotypical “slanted” eye make-up.a recent video advertisement published on Chinese social network Sino Weibo on December 25, after the brand was criticized for featuring a model with such features.
The ad in question, for their CLS luxury sedan, featured a women made-up with an exaggerated slant to her eyelids.on Tuesday that the hashtag “Mercedes-Benz model’s make-up is controversial” had gained over 170 million view on Weibo at the time.
