Met Eireann has forecast more rain and thunderstorms this week before a big change is expected to come this weekend.
High pressure is expected to push in on Friday and Saturday, bringing dry weather with some sunshine and highs of up to 19C. Showers will continue tonight, merging to longer spells of rain at times in the west and northwest. The showers will be more scattered in the east and southeast with longer drier and clearer intervals occurring. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds, fresh near Atlantic coasts.
Thursday, May 11 Rather dull and wet to begin across the southern half of the country on Thursday, drier and sunnier further north, with scattered showers. The rain will clear the south though the morning leaving a mix of sunshine and showers for the afternoon. Highs of 14 to 17 degrees in mostly light to moderate northerly winds, but winds will continue fresh to strong near southwestern coasts for much of the day. Showers becoming isolated with long clear spells developing on Thursday night.
