June 1 is the first day of the meteorological summer and people all over Ireland have been dreaming of a mini-heatwave
Met Eireann 's latest long-range weather update for the entire month of June is not what many will have been planning for.

"The signal for the final week of the extended outlook is for around average temperatures for the time of year. Drier than average conditions are also currently signalled."
Met Eireann added: "Low pressure is signalled to influence our weather for week two. Temperatures will likely be around average in many areas, but parts of the midlands and southwest and west are likely to see slightly below average temperatures. Rainfall is signalled to be above average countrywide, which may lead to some spot flooding."
"Sunday will be mostly cloudy with some light patchy rain or drizzle feeding in from the northwest," said Met Eireann. "Monday will be mostly cloudy with rain or drizzle at times. Some drier, sunnier, intervals also, mainly in Ulster. Highest temperatures 15°C to 20°C with moderate west to northwest breezes.
