Met Eireann issues thunderstorm warning for six counties as 'heavy rain and isolated hail' expected
The weather alert, a Status Yellow warning, is for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford.The warning is valid from 2.26pm on Christmas Eve to 7pm on Christmas Eve.Meanwhile, there is also a small craft warning for the entire coast of Ireland.
It states that south to southwest winds will reach force six or higher on all Irish coasts this evening.Earlier, the weather forecast for today from Met Eireann had noted that thunderstorms were possible. There should be clear spells and scattered showers overnight otherwise, some heavy and prolonged, with a continued chance of isolated thunderstorms and hail and merging to longer spells of rain at times in the northwest towards dawn.There are set to be showers or longer spells of rain tomorrow, Christmas Day.
The wind will veer northwesterly later on Sunday, introducing much colder conditions with the risk of icy surfaces.READ NEXT :
