Met Éireann issues two status yellow weather warnings for the entire country
likelihood of a weather warningTo begin with, a status yellow wind warning has been issued for all of Ireland. The warning is valid from 9am on Saturday 8 February until 23.59pm on Sunday 9 February.
The warning states that on Saturday southerly winds will strengthen as they reach mean speeds of 50-65km/h with gusts reaching 90-110km/h. A status yellow wind warning is also in place for Sunday too as the arrival of Storm Ciara is set to produce very strong winds over Ireland with a risk of damaging gusts.
A combination of spring tides, high seas, and stormy conditions will result in an elevated risk of coastal flooding, especially along southern, western and northwestern coasts.That particular warning is in place from 12pm on Saturday 8 February until 3pm on Sunday 9 February.On Saturday, Met Éireann has said that we should"expect a spell of heavy rain that will spread eastwards across the country on Saturday with 20-40mm expected, highest in the west and northwest.
As for Sunday, another spell of heavy rain is due to arrive but it should clear, leaving squally and wintry showers. Another 20-40mm of rainfall is also likely.Status Yellow - Wind warning for Ireland. Valid from 12:00 Sat, 08-Feb-2020 until 15:00 Sun, 09-Feb-2020
