If you were thinking the warmer springtime weather was finally here, you would be wrong as Met Eireann have warned of wintry showers and hail in parts of the country this week

After a mild few days, we are set to go back to where we started this month as temperatures are set to plunge.As well as that, there is set to be widespread rain across much of Ireland for the remainder of the week.In their overview of the next few days, Met Eireann have written: "Becoming cooler with unsettled conditions continuing for the weekend."Today Breezy today with outbreaks of rain or drizzle clearing eastwards at first this morning.

Tomorrow Blustery with sunny spells and showers, mainly in the north and west at first but quickly becoming widespread. Some of the showers will be heavy with a chance of hail. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in a moderate to fresh and gusty westerly wind. Scattered showers will continue on Friday night, some heavy with hail and possibly turning wintry on hills. It will be driest in the southeast. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees in a moderate to fresh and gusty westerly wind.

Saturday 23rd March Windy with sunny spells and widespread showers. Some will be heavy and there is a chance of hail. Some wintry falls possible on hills during the morning and afternoon, especially in the north. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in a moderate to fresh and gusty west to northwest wind. It will become drier on Saturday night as showers become lighter and isolated to western and northern coastal counties. Long clear spells will develop and winds will ease.

Sunday 24th March Sunday will start off dry with just isolated showers, however cloud will increase from the west during the morning and rain will spread across the country during the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with light to moderate variable winds. A wet night with widespread rain and drizzle, heaviest in the south. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees with light to moderate variable winds.

Monday 25th March Widespread rain continuing on Monday, clearing northeastwards later with clear spells developing in the south. Highest temperatures of 5 to 11 degrees with light to moderate variable winds.
