July has been an absolute washout from the start. The month has seen heavy rainfall and localised flooding in parts, with multiple weather alerts having been issued.
Scattered showers will continue tonight, with long dry intervals in many places. Clear skies for most to start, with clouds thickening overnight bringing persistent rain to the west and southwest by morning. Lowest temperatures of 9C to 12C with very light southwest breezes. Thursday Mostly cloudy with brief bright spells. There will be some showers in most areas during the day. Highs of 19C to 21C, warmest in the east and south with a moderate westerly breeze.
Weekend Widespread showers are expected on Saturday in breezy or windy conditions. Showers may be heavy and prolonged, especially in the north. The forecast is uncertain for Sunday however further rainfall is possible. Temperatures around 16C to 19C.According to the long-term forecast from Met Éireann, with a “gradual recovery” in sea level pressure and high pressure becoming more dominant in the southwest as low pressure declines to the east.
