Ireland was treated to a dry and warm few days last week, with people across the country wondering if we can expect any more temperatures in their 20s this month
Met Eireann say there is “significant change” on the way as they give their verdict on a possible heatwave this May.With a very wet and miserable start to the year, people are wondering if the country might get any more good weather this month. Met Eireann explained that this week isn’t looking good as “above average” rainfall amounts are expected for Ireland .
They added: “Low pressure centred close to the country will lead to rain and showers over the country with a mostly easterly or variable airflow. Above average rainfall amounts are expected throughout the country, especially in the north and east where temperatures will also be likely to be above average.
Between Monday, 20 May to Sunday, 26 May, there will be more settled conditions compared to the previous week with high pressure to the east building again bringing above average temperatures in a predominately southeasterly airflow. “There will likely still be a risk of some heavy or thundery showers at times which could lead to spot flooding. And there is a potential for mist and fog during the nights and sea fog could encroach onto southern and eastern coasts.”The signals for high pressure are set to decline, however, temperatures will likely continue above normal. Also, there is above average rainfall amounts expected for much of the country which will likely be due to heavy or thundery showers.
